About us

We know these marketplaces from the inside, and we use that to find your profit.

Brands are told to choose between growing and staying profitable. We do not believe that trade is real. We show you where the profit already sits in what you sell, and how to grow without giving it away.

Why us

Five things that are true of us.

Deep ecommerce and platform experience

We ran the commercial side of these marketplaces, not just sold on them.

The commission structures, the fulfilment charges, the creator programmes, the funding that gets quietly withdrawn. When your settlement file does not add up, we usually know why before we open it.

Our methods are our own

The margin engine, the allocator and the measurement design are all built in house.

We work with academic collaborators at Duke and Harvard on incrementality measurement, which is what makes us efficient. A smaller test settles the question, so less of your budget goes on finding the answer and more on acting on it.

We do the unglamorous part

Working out your real margin is tedious, and there is no shortcut through it.

It means reconciling settlement files against orders, invoices against stock, and a 3PL bill against the picks it charged for. We do that work so everything built on top of it is standing on something.

We don't chase vanity metrics

Our sole purpose is to put more profit and more cash in your bank.

So we count contribution after every real cost, never revenue. We count lift proved against a holdout, never lift merely attributed. Where a cost cannot be established we mark it unknown rather than zero.

We are paid when you gain, not when you log in

Part of what we charge is tied to gains we can demonstrate against a control.

That is an uncomfortable way to price a business and it rules out work we might otherwise take. It also means we cannot make money from a brand we are not actually helping.

You do not need another dashboard to check on a Monday morning. You need someone to work out where the profit actually is, and then go and move the money. That is what the three services do.

Who runs it

Nuance is led by Ash Parande.

Ash ran TikTok Shop in the UK, where he was central to scaling beauty and fashion.

Before that he led Europe-wide seller programmes at Amazon Marketplace, running seller services across a team spanning the UK, Germany, China and North America. Earlier he held P&L leadership at Wayfair across North America and Europe, and spent five years at McKinsey advising technology and media businesses on growth.

He has spent twenty years on the operator's side of marketplaces, working out which parts of a business actually make money and which parts only look like they do.

How we work with you

  • You work with Ash directly. The person who builds your numbers is the person who presents them, and the person who answers when you push back on one.
  • We take very few brands at a time. This work does not scale by hiring account managers, so we would rather do three engagements properly than twelve badly.
  • What we build for you gets built around your business. We take a handful of brands at a time, and they shape what Nuance becomes.

The company

Nuance is a product of Tinkerlab Services Ltd, registered in England and Wales. We are based in London and we work with brands wherever they sell.

The best way to judge us is to let us look at your numbers.

We take a limited number of brands at a time. Join the waitlist and we will come back to you when a place opens.
